As per reports, the Central Government is on the move to increase the subsidy on LPG gas cylinders. Crores of gas consumers will welcome major benefits, thanks to this update. The Government will enhance the present LPG subsidy for the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana (PMUY).
Spreading The Benefit
The Government is focused on broadening the number of LPG users under the Ujjawala Yojana and providing relief to a vast number of families.
The Government is taking this decision concerning inflation. The Government has also asked the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to maintain the inflation rate between 4 to 6 percent and recover from the highs seen in inflation earlier this year.
Helping the Masses with LPG Subsidy
The government is working to help more people through the Ujjwala scheme. They’ve approved gas connections for about 75 lakh women under the expanded Ujjwala scheme. With this, the total number of beneficiaries will be over 10 crores.
In October, the government raised the subsidy by Rs 100. Before this, people had to pay Rs 703 after the subsidy for a 14.2 kg cylinder. Now, with the increased subsidy from Rs 200 to Rs 300, the cost of this cylinder is reduced to Rs 603.
